God Loves Naughty Boys (and Girls)

There once was a boy who caused
his poor Mum a lot of grief with bad
behaviour - he would swear, wreck
the house, back chat, and more!
This little boy and his family were
perfect candidates for the television
programme Super Nanny!  They were
having a particularly bad time of it one
day when his mother looked out the
window to see the local minister parking
outside their house.  Her heart sank as he was the last person she wished to witness her son's disobedience and lack of respect!   She quickly sat him in a seat with a few biscuits and gave him some warnings and threats as to what might happen if he caused her embarrassment during the visit.    The little guy managed to sit still and quiet  for about 30 seconds - as soon as he wolfed down the biscuits he was back to wreaking havoc!  At her wits end, his Mum thought she'd call in a little divine help - she asked the minister to tell her misbehaving son that God doesn't love naughty children.  The minister sat the little boy down and looked into his eyes.  In spite of the mother's distress, this man who knew the Bible well, realized that he could not deliver the message as she had asked for it would be a terrible lie.  Instead he said. "You've done some very naughty things, but I have to tell you the truth - God loves naughty boys."
It's a core truth of the gospel that no matter how deep our sin, God's love is deeper.  So much deeper that, while we were still sinners, He sent His Son, the Lord Jesus, to die for those sins on the cross, so that we could be forgiven and experience His love eternally.
"For God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life.  John 3:16
